Secret Celebrity Couples You Didn’t Realize Are Together
The life of the rich and famous is never a dull one. However, every now and then, some celebs have the need to break away from the limelight and try and salvage a bit of their private lives. To some extent, there are celebs who successfully keep a low profile when it comes to their love life. Before you even know it, a couple is born and, in some instances, get married, without the media ever having a whiff of the action. Needless to say, there might be a few celebs who you never even knew hooked up.
1 of 40: Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart
Ever since Ford mesmerized the audience with the fearless Indiana Jones series, he has been known to keep his private and on-screen life separate. Likewise, Flockhart, who is best known for her role in the series Ally McBeal, also adopted Ford’s secretive ways. The two hooked up in 2002 at the Golden Globe Awards and took things casual for quite a number of years. Ford manned up and proposed to Flockhart in 2009. A year later, they got hitched in New Mexico where Ford was busy filming Cowboys and Aliens.
2 of 40: Peter Krause and Lauren Graham
The quirky single mother from the show The Gilmore Girls is way less outspoken than her onscreen counterpart, especially when it comes to love and relationships. Thank goodness, actors only portray certain personas, otherwise, Graham would be dating her brother. Jip, Lauren, and Peter were brother and sister in the series and fell deeply in love while working on set. Both of them were in dead-end relationships when their relationship just happened, according to Graham. She did, however, spill the secret to their happiness and that is communication. Lauren even said that Peter is her favorite person to talk to.
3 of 40: Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde
Here is a couple that very few people saw coming. Judging by their on-screen characters, they don’t seem like a likely couple. However, the heart wants what it wants. They met in 2011 at a Saturday Night Live after party and Jason was absolutely smitten with Olivia. He mustered up the courage to get her number that night, but only phoned her a month afterward. Don’t think that things sped up from there though. He only kissed her on their fourth date, but it was well worth it. Two years later they got engaged and already have two kids.
4 of 40: Adam Brody and Leighton Meester
They might be young, but they know how to keep the ever-present celebrity gossips at bay. These two met in 2010 while they were filming The Oranges and seemed to hit it off quite easily. Although people knew that they were dating, they were all too unaware of the pace at which they were moving. After a brief dating period of nine months, they got engaged and really cranked up the pace. Three months later, they got married in a secret ceremony in February 2014. Not long ago, they welcomed Arlo Day Brody into the world.
5 of 40: Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes
Hugh is probably one of the luckiest men alive. However, in a 2014 interview with Glamour, Danes was the one who mentioned that she was the one that was lucked out. They met on the set of the film Evening in 2006 and really connected. Three years after, they got engaged, but only announced the engagement a couple of months later. They were so private about the wedding that it is still not known whether they got married in August or September of 2009. The only thing that is known for sure is that the wedding was in Paris.
6 of 40: Michael Sheen and Sarah Silverman
The stern British actor was no match for the charms of the American Comedian. This was not a relationship that anyone could have foreseen, but love is a funny thing. Michael has always been one for serious relationships it seems. Before he started dating Sarah, he was in a six-year relationship with Lorraine Stewart. He went on to date Racheal McAdams after that but broke up with her in 2013. Sarah was the one who could break through his defenses and today they couldn’t be happier. It goes to show that opposites truly attract.
7 of 40: Taran Killam and Cobie Smulders
If you want a couple of lessons on how to keep your relationship low key, look no further than Taran and Cobie. These two have been together for what seems like forever, and they are experts at keeping their private lives out of the spotlight. They were already dating for a number of years before getting engaged in 2009, the same year that their eldest daughter was born. In 2012 they got married and had their second child in 2015. Taran is very outspoken about his fondness for his wife and mentions that she is his favorite person.
8 of 40: Chris Pratt and Anna Faris
Recently, Chris Pratt’s career exploded, and he is now one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stars. However, he has been around for quite some time. In 2007, he met Faris while filming the movie Take me home tonight. The onscreen romance moved to the real life, and the two started dating shortly after. In 2008 they got engaged, and a year later they were hitched. In 2012, their son was born prematurely, and this was one of the defining moments in Pratt’s spiritual life. Needless to say, the two are still together and happy as can be.
9 of 40: Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson
As far as long-term relationships go, Maya and Paul top the list. They started dating way back in 2001 and are still going at it. Throughout all this time, they still have not tied the knot. That does not mean that they don’t get busy. Together, they have four children, three girls, and a boy. Apart from knowing how many kids they have, not much else is known about the celebs. They do a good job at keeping their private lives private. But when they do speak out about their relationship, there is nothing but love.
10 of 40: John Corbett and Bo Derek
These two are really an adorable couple. Both of them have such charming personalities, so it’s kind of hard to believe that they were once single and searching. Eventually, it was Norby Walters, a Hollywood agent, that took the reins and set the two up at an Oscar party that he was hosting. The two hit it off and have been dating ever since. The chances that they will ever get married is very slim since John once stated that he never really saw himself getting married or having children.
11 of 40: Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally
These two sure know how to tickle each other’s funny bones. When they met in 2000, Nick was not at the best place in his life. He wasn’t happy with where his career was going and took to the bottle to dull the disappointment. That was until he got cast alongside Megan for the play The Berlin Circle. Neither of them knew any of the other cast members, so they found comfort in each other. Their romance blossomed, and the rest is history. Apart from the play, they also made appearances in each other’s sitcoms.
12 of 40: Jennifer Grey and Clark Gregg
This power couple has been together since they locked eyes for the first time in 2000. They were fatefully brought together by mutual friends, and Clark saw no reason to postpone the inevitable. They got married only a year after they met and had a daughter in that same year. They are still very much in love and happily married, although very little is known about their relationship. Like any other couple, they have their tiffs from time to time, but it is never enough to drive a wedge between them.
13 of 40: Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth
It’s no secret that relationships in Hollywood are fickle and only on rare occasions do they last long. Peter and Jennie seemed like one of those couples until Peter filed for divorce in 2012. They seemed to have all the right ingredients for a lasting marriage, but in the end, it all came apart. They initially met in 1995 and got married six years later. While they were married, they had three children together, but not even the kids could keep them together. Their split came like a flash flood which no one saw coming.
14 of 40: Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund
Kirsten and Garrett met in 2012 while filming On the Road. During the filming of the movie, a romance started to brew, and the two were dating soon after. It all seemed to go quite well, and on the surface, they looked quite happy. However, when your views about the future don’t match, things can get rocky. Throw in clashing personalities, and you have a ticking time bomb. In their case, these were the things that ultimately made them call it quits. Nevertheless, the breakup wasn’t all bad, and they still remain good friends today.
15 of 40: Helen Hunt and Hank Azaria
Like so many others, Hank and Helen seemed to have it all going for them. When they met in 1995, they only had eyes for each other. After five years, they tied the knot, and everyone could see them grow old together. Unfortunately, their union only lasted 17 months. Not much is known about why they split, but Helen didn’t take long to move on. In fact, less than a year later, Helen started dating Matthew Carnahan. Hank was not so lucky. However, he took the split badly and is still not quite over the divorce
16 of 40: David Cross and Amber Tamblyn
David has been around for quite a while and is known for his work on Arrested Development. Amber on the other hand, who is quite a few years younger than David, is best known for her role in The sisterhood of the traveling pants. The two officially met on a connecting flight although they had seen each other on various occasions. David saw that Amber was looking at him and decided to take the plunge. Needless to say, they started dating and four years later got engaged and then tied the knot.
17 of 40: Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig
It’s hard to say who is the luckier party, Weisz or Craig? Regardless, they keep their personal lives way out of the spotlight. Weisz is all too aware of her hubby’s stardom and feels that their privacy is the most important thing that keeps them together. Their relationship is so closed off, that very few people know that they are married. What is known is that they were friends before dating in 2010. Craig wasn’t about to let her slip through his fingers, and they married to a guest list of only four people…in secret.
18 of 40: Michael Emerson and Carrie Preston
If there is a couple that proves that a long-distance relationship is possible it is these two. Carrie and Michael have been married for over 16 years, but it wasn’t until their tenth anniversary that they moved into their first owned house together. Their acting careers is what kept them staying in two separate rental homes for long periods of time. While Mike was filming Lost, Carrie would be busy with other acting ventures. Through everything though, they withered the storm and settled in Los Angeles. Their schedules are still hectic, but somehow, they make it work.
19 of 40: Catherine Keener and Dermot Mulroney
In Hollywood, relationships rarely break the ten-year mark, but somehow, these two got to 17 years before splitting up. What is even more impressive is that no one even realized that they had been together for that long. They met on the set of the 1987 movie, Survival Quest and became serious soon after. Three years of dating was enough for the couple to know that they wanted to get married. A couple of years in, they had their first and only child and not long after his birth they filed for divorce.
20 of 40: Mireille Enos and Alan Ruck
These two have been married since 2008, and everyone is none the wiser. Most people don’t even know they are married. One of the main reasons for their low profile is the fact that they don’t leave any unhappy breadcrumbs for the media to follow. Neither of them has ever spoken ill of the other, nor have they ever complained about being unhappy. Alan came out of a 20-year relationship with Claudia Stefany before marrying Enos. From the odd social media post, one can see that they are extremely happy with their son and daughter.
21 of 40: Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll
Like they say, birds of a feather flock together. At least it seemed like they do in Amy and Nick’s case. This couple seemed to have all the right ingredients to for a long and happy union, but as Hollywood has proven over again, it was not meant to last. For the most part, they really were a great fit, except for their schedules. Their careers are what ultimately caused the split. They weren’t seeing enough of each other, and despite trying to make it work, it all came apart in the space of only three years.
22 of 40: Isla Fisher and Sacha ‘Borat’ Cohen
Isla and Sacha met in 2002 at a party, and the British comedian swept the Australian redhead off her feet. They dated for two years before Sasha asked for her hand in marriage, but it took a further six years before they finally said their I do’s. One of the main reasons for the prolonged engagement was their careers, but Isla also had to convert to Judaism before she could marry Sasha. They are still going strong today and have two adorable daughters and a son. Isla maintains that it feels as if she won the lottery with her hubby and kids in toe.
23 of 40: Paulina Porizkova and Ric Ocasek
It seems unfair how time does nothing to the looks of some people. The Czech model is simply breathtaking nearly three decades after she donned the cover of almost every magazine during the eighties and nineties. When Ric met Paulina, she was only 19 years old, and he was already 35. That didn’t stop him from divorcing his second wife and marrying the young model. It seems rather stereotypical, but they have been married since 1989. They have two sons, Jonathan and Oliver and it doesn’t seem like their fire is close to being extinguished.
24 of 40: Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest
Curtis and Guest’s romance is an inspiration to us all. Hollywood has nothing on these two lovebirds and their union. They have been together for thirty years, and it looks like they may go the distance. Curtis saw a photo of Guest for the movie, This is Spinal Tap and told her friend that she was going to marry him. Lo and behold, five months later, they got married. Curtis revealed in an interview with The Daily Beast that they are two very different people and don’t have much in common, maybe that is the secret after all.
25 of 40: Janet Jackson and Matthew McConaughey
If there is one thing that you can count on in Hollywood, it is that a juicy quick fling is never far off. Both of these stars were arguably at their physical peaks when they met at the 2002 Grammy Awards. Needless to say, they found each other extremely attractive and took the party to Janet’s Bel Air residence. For years, McConaughey was adamant that nothing happened during that night, but he eventually confessed that they did more than just a bit of talking at her house. Things got pretty hot, and then it was over.
26 of 40: Julia Roberts and Liam Neeson
Not many people are aware that Neeson and Roberts were once romantically involved. The two worked together on the movie Satisfaction and work quickly turned to pleasure. Julia was only 19 when they started dating, whereas Neeson was already pushing 35. All that is known about their brief two-year relationship is that they lived together for a while. They soon parted ways and found the loves of their lives. Neeson was the first to marry actress, Natasha Richardson and Roberts followed suit when she married cameraman, Daniel Moder. They are still married today.
27 of 40: Josh Charles and Sheryl Crow
It’s hard to think that this relationship ever happened, but maybe it is because it was so brief. Crow invited Charles to 2003 Grammys as her date, but they broke things off not long after. No one really knows how long they were dating, nor if they ever were very serious. Josh went on to marry Sophia Flack, but it was also a very private affair. They hardly ever said anything about their relationship and even their wedding was low key. Crow on the other hand never really settled, despite having a number of high-profile suitors.
28 of 40: Jeff Goldblum and Kristin Davis
Some say that age is only a number and for many successful Hollywood couples that rings true. However, Jeff and Kristin did not make the happily ever after list. The two briefly dated in 2002 despite there being a 12-year age difference. One could also argue that age was the thing that drove them apart. Regardless, there is so little known about their brief relationship that the reason for their split could have been anything. Jeff went on and married an even younger girl, but this time things seem to be going well.
29 of 40: Scott Foley and Jennifer Garner
Scott and Jennifer is another marriage in a long list that just could not go the distance. They met while filming the movie Felicity in 1998. They fell head over heels for each other and got married two years later. In 2003, however, they officially separated and finalized the divorce in 2004. Not much was known about the reason for their split besides irreconcilable differences, but Garner later said that Foley just never stood a chance. He was a great guy and all, but things were very stale. However, the split worked out well, and they are both happily married to other people.
30 of 40: Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet
Talk about keeping a low profile. Lisa and Jason seem like a new couple who has only been dating for a couple of months. The truth is that they have been married since 2007. Lisa was married to Lenny Kravitz before she met Mamoa in 2005. Their mutual friends thought that they would make an excellent couple and they got it right. They got off to a flying start and are still going strong. Today, they are the proud parents of two kids, and despite having a few bumps in the road along the way, they always seem to come out stronger on the other side.
31 of 40: Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend
Christina is one of the world’s hottest women, and Arend has her all to himself. When they met in 2007, she was immediately smitten by Arend and had to pursue a relationship with him. She wasn’t playing around and admits that she came on a bit strong early in their relationship. Arend was a bit freaked out by her forwardness but eventually gave in to her charms. In 2009, they got married, and they are still together. Although she told Arend that he made her feel like she wanted a family, they still don’t have any kids.
32 of 40: Marcus Mumford and Carey Mulligan
If ever there was a cute couple that seemed right from the very beginning, it is Marcus and Carey. They are both incredibly talented in what they do and at the same time, so down to earth. Carey could win a ton of awards and Marcus could come back from a rocking tour, but when they go home to their farm, they live it up and spend their days with friends, nature and their four-legged friends. They got married in 2012, and despite having hectic schedules, they make it work.
33 of 35: Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz
Here is a pairing that seemed a bit odd in the beginning, but as time went by, the rest of the world started to see what they knew already. They actually had a long history before getting married. When they met, however, Keys was not too impressed with her future rapper husband. She resisted working with Beatz for a long time, and when she finally gave in, they had a blast. Eventually, they got married in 2009, but this was not after some controversy. However, today they are still together with two kids on their own.
34 of 40: Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy
Now here is a couple that took their sweet time to get married. Felicity and William dated on and off for nearly 15 years before they finally got married. Felicity was just too terrified of commitment. She once stated that she would rather step in front of a bus than get married. She was afraid that she would lose her identity when she got married, but eventually, she gave in and in 1997, they tied the knot. They are still very much in love, but Felicity made it clear that they work at their marriage intentionally.
35 of 40: Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon
There are a lot of Hollywood couples who could take a few pages out of their book. They have been married for 30 years already. However, this union almost never happened. When Kyra met Kevin for the first time on the set of the 1988 remake of Lemon Sky, she thought he was a jerk. Kevin, on the other hand, found her attractive form the get-go. He persisted, and the two got married shortly after. The advice that they give other celebs is not to take marriage advice from celebs.
36 of 40: Dave Franco and Alison Brie
There isn’t anything like young love. Brie and Franco make the most adorable couple. Maybe it’s because Franco is younger than Brie, or because he still has his boyish looks. The two met at Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2011 through a mutual friend. They clicked in an instant and started dating soon after the meetup. In 2015, they got engaged, and they only recently got married in 2017. Not much is known about the wedding itself, except for Dave Franco saying that it was special, intimate and really fun.
37 of 40:Lily James and Matt Smith
Love sometimes finds the strangest places to sprout. Such was the case with Lily and Matt. They first met on the set of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies amidst a host of zombie costumes. The abundance of death didn’t deter them at all and rumors started to fly that they were romantically involved. They only made their relationship public at the Cinderella Premier in 2015 and have been going strong ever since. Lily recently sported a huge diamond ring on her ring finger but nipped the engagement rumors in the bud and said that she just wears rings, don’t matter the finger.
38 of 40:Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley
As far as power couples go, Tom and Charlotte rank right up there with the most impressive couples. What makes them even better is that they like to keep things out of the public eye. Whenever there is any news about the couple, it is good. Tom and Charlotte met on the set of the TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights in 2009. Their on-screen romance carried over into their real lives, and the two got engaged a year later. In 2014, they eventually got married with only a few friends and family attending the secretive occasion.
39 of 40:Francis McDormand and Joel Coen
Francis and Joel stand out among the crows as far as relationships go. They have been married for over three decades, and it looks like they are going to go the distance. Like many Hollywood couples, they met on a professional level. Francis went for an audition in what would be the Coen Brother’s first film. She initially turned the call back down but came to her senses. The rest is three decades’ worth of history. They truly bring out the best in each other. Francis still can’t believe that she can mix business with pleasure without feeling guilty.
40 of 40: Dylan Minette and Kerris Dorsey
Dylan Minette is a name that is on the lips of many teens nowadays. However, he is spoken for, and the lucky lady is Kerris Dorsey. They first met in 2014 on the set of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. While they were siblings on the show, their love for each other spilled over into the real world, and they have only had eyes for each other since then. They tend to keep their relationship to themselves these days, but every now and then a social media post slips through.
